Tell us about yourself, where you’re from and what you enjoy.
My name is Nastassia Jackson and I am a Milwaukee native. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I love helping people to heal. I have experience working with youth and adults who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety, first episode of psychosis, substance abuse and other mental health conditions. I enjoy helping people to problem solve, to become more aware of themselves and find mental health treatment that works best for them.
Why did you start your business? What makes you passionate about it?
Many people of color, especially African-Americans often have a stigma about seeking Mental Health services. Also, many African-Americans have shared that they have a hard time finding a therapist that looks like them and that they can relate to.
Due to these factors, I started my own business. Another reason why I started my business was to be able to bring a different type of counseling experience to the African-American community and to other individuals who are often marginalized and oppressed. Some African-Americans feel that they cannot be their authentic selves when they are meeting with a therapist of a different race or background. I wanted to provide Person-Centered counseling with an emphasis on Black Culture.
I am passionate about providing my clients with the best clinical counseling experience that they will ever have. I love to help people to learn about their symptoms and behavior. I love helping people to become more aware of who they are and to provide a treatment that is based solely on what works best for them.
What do you want people to know about your business?
We have all experienced some type of mental health issue from dealing with depression or anxiety. I also want people to know that there is more than one way to heal and we are here to walk with you on your journey to heal. #differentshadesofyou #differentshadesofme #differentshadesofhealing
Please explain why your business is important to the community.
My business is important to the community because when we practice good mental health, we increase our fulfillment of living life, we live healthier and longer lives, and we create peace within ourselves and within the community.
Anything else we should know?
Different Shades of Healing is looking forward to connecting with you.
