Near West Side

Milwaukee’s Near West Side is a blend of collegiate buildings, historic mansions, and working class homes. Just west of Downtown lies Marquette University, a world class private university. Further west are mansions, built by businessmen and professionals from the late nineteenth century, along with long rows of working class homes. Presently high crime and poverty inflict the Near West Side, however programs and organizations are making strides in uplifting the community and providing a better quality of life.
